Two Years Old!

In the blink of an eye, Callie has turned two.  Well, technically, over a month ago she did! She is just an amazing little munchkin, so full of energy and spunk! (Read: attitude, opinion, and a master of the word "no" )

For her birthday, we had a modernized version of a Sofia the First birthday party, accompanied by some princess/royal themed snacks.

baby Callie and 2 years later

Family drove in from Miami to celebrate, and we had friends and family from close by come too! Callie had some of her friends come to play!

Callie is still very friendly at school, Miss Social Butterfly as she is referred to. Her teachers love her, and she is still using her manners 90% of the time! (The attitude machine is broken, so I don't know her true percentage!)

Callie is impressing us every day. She LOVES watching football with daddy, which she calls "ooftall". She points to her head and says "boo boo" when they collide (Mommy knows NOTHING about sports), and she will scream "hooray, go dolphins", and cheer with daddy. It is so cute to see her have a bond with Kahlil!

Callie has moved to the next room up at her school. The other day, when I picked her up, she said "Callie bags in cubby, come Mommy", as she ran and pushed through 2 connecting doors, and pointed to her new classroom saying "in Bumblebees (new room) right there!" Social skills run in the family, right? Her sentences are getting longer, and she is very expressive, and loves to scream and cry and have fits- terrible twos what?

Since the last blog, Callie has learned so many words, it would be impossible to continue to keep score.
The pediatrician said she is advanced. Good news to hear, because I talk to her A LOT, and work with her often! OK- bragging done.

FLASHBACK DATA:

Starting back last April, she started with 2- word sentences like "rice hot"...

May: started calling her pacificer "paci" instead of "packy". Said "enup" for clean up... recognized a few letters only. "ickle" is tickle. "Help me please". "hockey" for horsey.
June: plays kitchen, says "yea" to questions, opens ipad to her books and interacts with them. June 22- jumped up! Says "Ipad please" Loves splash parks now! Says "Ready... go", can build towers of blocks up. Learned "sneaky" eye. June 25= calls balloon a lalloon. 19 months can fully operate the ipad. Held a baby and fed baby, changed diaper...asks for window to be down in car. Started saying "a" in front of object words, grapes= meeps, counts to 3.

June: started saying her name as "Callie". Says Ketchup clearly. Cheerios are "rios", closes her eyes, and thinks we cannot see her, ate some purple crayon, 22nd- jumped for the first time, double feet...

July: doesn't like fireworks, says animals, went to Liam's birthday, counts objects like cows on a sign at  Chick-fil-a aka "Moo Moo",  says "I did it!",  "baby agua" aka very small amount of water coming out of spout, says "okay".

August 1: allergist appointment, hated a lollipop, verdict- SEVERE egg allergy, on top of her still dairy allergy...August 2- started the 3 day potty training at 21 months, and TADA, it worked. Day 1 we threw the diapers away and said every few minutes "tell me when you have to go potty"... it was a disaster- peeing everywhere like a new puppy, day 2 she started signaling, still keeping us at bay with towels around the house ready to clean up leaks, day 3 she only had 2 accidents. By week 2 she was probably 90% trained. august 11- tried cereal and soy milk together for the first time. Enjoyed sorting silverwear while she calmed down from a tantrum, names her classmates, end of month, knows concept of heavy.

September: uses "excuse me", says tiny and big to compare objects (elephants in this case),  says "Callie's turn" and "I wanna hold it",  daddy spooked Callie in hide and seek and she said "Daddy scare me rawr!" Says "it's sunny, gasses peez",  knows and says "push", said "feet and neck, no hand" while shaking her head telling me she understood where to apply her cold roll on of oils.

October-:says "you're silly daddy", asks for "huggies" (hugs), climbed on a chair and stood on her highchair (needed oils to calm down- mommy that is), says "ummmm" when thinking, had her first braid, says "good morning mommy/daddy", says "vamos ok", Had a great halloween dressed up as a Monsters Inc. Family

November: slathered aquafor all over her hair (fun, not), says and uses the contraction where's" "where's daddy? Where's paci?", locks doors, 9th- counts to 13 and also now says "I no like it", daddy date night with some school friends, wanted noodles for breakfast- took them in a container in the car for her (veggie spirals),  fights about color of ponytails, if we can even get one in, jackets, shirts, which underwear, everything is "sofia's____" (the frog underwear is sofia's frog etc), says jacket, zip, amulet.

TWO YEAR STATS: 2 FEET 8.5 INCHES, 25 LBS (with clothes).

Christmas post will be started by February- ha! Mommy life is fast-paced, with not a lot of down time.

Toddlers Keep You Busy!

Sorry for the huge gap in time... Callie has changed so much since 17 months! As my phone filled up quickly with songs, dances, and tantrums to show her later on, they now are in multiple storage places: computer, ipads, and 2 back up drives!

So, this entry (as much as I can type before she wakes up) will be purely text. I plug in some interesting and noteworthy things Callie does, says, or creates in to my phone calendar, in hopes that some miracle Nanny, secretary and housekeeper will allow me the time to organize my photos and thoughts and complete this more often!

That being said... since my last post 6 months ago:

April- 17 months
Callie knows where her chin is, and says chin, she started gestures for "who" and "where" with her hands out and head cocked to the side in confusion, started calling her blanket "blankie", April 14ht, said "I love you" clearly, 20th said "rice hot",  started gesture for "I don't know" when we ask questions, 27th said "me go down" for put me down, Callie came up to me while I was making coffee, touched a bruise on my leg and said "boo boo" and kissed it, saw a frog on the back sliding door and called it a word we will not write. Since then she now calls it a a FROG. Asks to go "outside"and points to "bee" and "airplane". Recognizes when there is a group of 2 objects without counting when prompted with "how many", says 2.

May- 18 months
calls pizza, eeza, says juice, grapes she calls gaps, talks in full sentences with fluctuation although half the time we do not understand her, sings often, uses "me" for Callie, and "mommy"replaces mama often. Shared water intentionally. Bit my belly, said sorry, booboo and kissed it. Says our phrase "1,2,3, weeeee" for hand game when we swing her. Sings bumblebee song with motions. Says "hug" when hugging. Poured her own water to rinse in the bath. Playing school at home saying "Drew, Gabby, not nice, no". (her 2 little boyfriends at school then). Said "Bye bye I love you Daddy" on her own. Said "I poop". Sings Old MacDonald. EIEIO. Calls her pacifier "pati". Says "EEEENUP" for clean up. Says Cheerios. Picked up daddy;s ring and said "ring", rubbed Daddy's back and said "Daddy, I love you, wake up". Plays kitchen and cooks while saying "cook". Says "help me", and calls applesauce "atoss
. Calls Horsey a "hockey", says "yeah" to questions, Calls tickle "ickle."

June- 19 months
says "dance", answers "who are your friends?" sings the words and tune for twinkle twinkle,  got her 2 year molars, thought eating a piece of a purple crayon would be nutritious, unintentionally made the  I love you hand sign for poses. Uses the ipad daily and rotates it when the screen needs adjusting, this means she recognizes that something is upside down. Says "Ketchup" and claps and cheers for it. When given something, she says "Thank You Come" her version of thank you and your'e welcome together. Says man. Uses the word "mine" as in "milk mine". Says Callie for her name. Calls Cheerios "rios", closes her eyes and pretends we cannot see her, and giggles. Says "me eyes" (points to her eyes) and "daddy's shoes", learned to jump up with 2 feet off the ground, says "ready, go", looks out of the corner of her eyes all sneaky, calls a balloon a laloon, full operates the ipad from it being off to a game, when we say "you got it" she says "I got it". Holds a baby doll and says "shhhh" and interacts like she is a teacher at daycare, asking the baby for high fives, reads to it, rocks it, checks diapers... asks for the window to go down in car "minnow" for window. Uses the article "a" before an object like "a ball". Grapes are now called "meeps". Counts to 3. Says "I'm stuck".

July- 20 months
says "animals", cried when we facetimed her from the Keys on a vacation... July 4th she hated fireworks, sees cows at Chick Fil A and says "moo moos". July 14: sentences: "I did it." "Bye Owl, I love you!" (decoration by our door)... says "baby bath? agua! I did it" then we hear a thump... she was giving her doll a bath... says "okay" instead of yes for answering, hears the bath and knows it is bath time (cries "no baf" for no bath)

August- 21 months
August 1- Allergist appointment, allergic to eggs and cow's milk, tried a lollipop after the prick exam and did not know what to do with it, did not like it and opted for stickers "ickers.
August 2- 3 day potty training started. (We did the 3 day program, and it was INSANE. We followed her all day saying "tell us when you have to go potty!" She was like a new puppy, peeing all over the house. After a solid 2 weeks, she was trained 99%.) August 3 signaled for poop in potty, insists on putting her underwear on by herself. Knows that numbers are quantities. "Need help Callie?" "No, Callie. Stop it." Miss independence! Calls the pacifier now a "packy". Had cereal with milk (soy), sorted silver wear and labeled as she sorted and said if it did or did not belong "poon" and "porks", knows old and new, pointed to an old bottle on the counter and said "old baba" and pointed to one on the high chair and said "new baba", knows concept of heavy and uses it when carrying daycare bag.

September- 22 Months
Says "excuse me" and "you're welcome", descriptor words says "tiny elephant, big elephant", says "daddy scare me- rarrrrr", "callie's turn" for everything like brushing teeth and dressing her. says " Wanna hold it", sings 10 little indian song, says "a tent" and makes it with blanket, says "right here" for where things are, when using the cold oils says "feet and neck, no hand", "it's sunny. glasses?" Spoon is now a "sfoon", says "uhhhh" when thinking now. uses mmmhmmm and eh eh for yes and no. Uses plurals and possessives for "mommy's" and daddy's and bunnies and doggies", helps with laundry sorting and pushing in the dryer...

in  21 days she will be a 2 year old!!!!!

October-  23 months
climbed on a chair then on to top of high chair... says "daddy you're silly" and "you're silly daddy", calls hugs "huggies" and demands huggies often, says "no mommy" and "no daddy"

Well... toddlers are fun. Everything is a phase... Callie is just so amazing and lovable and unique and smart.

She loves to read and dance, loves sofia the first, likes animals from far, and can count to 13 but skips four and five! She loves pretending to cook in her play kitchen.

She just started going to bed easier when Mommy is rocking her saying "I am going to put you in your bed now"...

So..... to the READERS....

I met my goal of doing a monthly blog for Callie's first year, so now I am slowly compiling for this update! Life has been busy with a clingy child, so I am majorly behind on this blog.

Since her first birthday, Callie has done many adventurous things and has really grown up a lot! Callie is no longer a baby, rather a toddler!

After her birthday, she had her 2nd Thanksgiving, 2nd Christmas, 2nd New Years Eve, has been eagerly walking/running all over the place, as well as communicating and learning new words!

Let's go back in time by month!

November: Signed for "more food" daily, learned how to close the dishwasher, gives Mommy kisses, becomes ticklish on her feet, imitated singing and sounds, got 2 incident reports at daycare for scratching, Callie started signing "Up, Please", said "Byebye", became aware of her eye lashes, had her first 1,2,3 weeeeee game

DECEMBER: Imitated "Achooooo" with sound and head movement, had her tubes surgery, started coconut milk weaning, liked string cheese, signals hunger by walking to the pantry, recognizes sign for "hug" and comes to hug when prompted in sign language, says "ba" for ball and balloon, says "all done", says puppy "puhpuh"...

JANUARY-mastered using a straw, told her daycare teachers "stop" with a hand motion, says "baby", transitioned fully to soy instead of coconut or cow's milk, walks backwards now.

FEBRUARY- started showing interest in blankets, so she started sleeping with her blankies: 3 of maybe 20 in a collection! She has 14 teeth now. Says apple. Sings and signs itsy bitsy spider better by herself. Puts things in the trash!!! Started signaling when she needed a diaper. Says and points to a cut, saying "boo boo". Said "thank you" (da-cu). Says animal sounds: dog, cat, monkey, cow... Learned how to get on the couch by herself (scary). Said "Baby" with signing it as well. Said "Moon" and points to moon. Cleans floor and puts the paper towel in the trash can. Opens doors. Tried a popsicle.

MARCH- says "no" when asked questions, like "are you pooping?" - no! Handed me a book and says "read", says "up", says "agua"(spanish) for water, says "bye bye" clearly, outside (out-ties), airplane (eh-pay).

APRIL: said school, moved to the Grasshopper room at daycare...

Words Callie says now as of APRIL: "up and down" with proper movement, bubble, shoe, duck (makes wings and quacks), mama, read (reeee), dada, dog or puhpuh, ball, all done ( aw duh), no, hi, stop, Mickey, Minnie, Elmo, sticker, baby, uhoh, hello, nana for banana, RoRo (my sister Rochelle), baby, moon, bow, mema= Grandma, up, read, hi, bye-bye, more (used to be like mas in spanish!), outside (out-ties), byebyehot (then blows on her hot food), school, I am certain there are many more!!!

Consonant sounds she makes: b for ball, baby etc, c/k end of duck, d for dada etc, g, h for hot,  l will sing "la la la", m for mama etc., n for n, p for puppy,  r for Roro, /s/, /t/ etc.

She can point when asked to her eyes, ears, nose, belly, feet, toes, and mouth when prompted...

New phrases/words she understands since last update: give it to ___, dance, sit, ball, dog, cat, duck, fish, fish-face, no, blink, stand up, toes, stand up, walk,... take this to daddy... pick up your food (she throws a lot of food that we make her clean up), clean up, water, drink, I am sure I am forgetting many...

Sign Language she signs: up, come, please, hug, baby, more, food/eat, drink, stand, help, baby, cat,  give me... I know there are more...

Callie loves many apps on the ipad, but specifically loves a phonics song and as soon as they say A, she says /aaaa/ apple. Debating if I should spend the $$$ for the full file, as she really enjoys it!

She dislikes the shower... prefers baths still... still loves her pacifier...She is a mommy's girl (sorry Daddy)... She is growing up WAY too fast!

She loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and the Disney Jr. Shows.... she has a dance/bounce for "Hot dog, Hot dog, Hot Diggity Dog!"
