Sorry Folks! Mommy and Callie have been very preoccupied, so I apologize in the delay of updates.
Callie has been sick, and Mommy is at the end of the school year, so I will do better soon!
On May 11, Callie sat up by herself for the first time, non tripod-style. She enjoys this independence on her floor mat! She can now sit up in the new foldable tub we have. She is LOVING bath time with the awesome bath toys!
On May 20th we confirmed that Callie DOES recognize her name. She gets excited and looks in your direction. Now, I will admit, sometimes she fails to do so if she is engaged in play (which is fine!).
May 20- we took Callie to the After Hours pediatrics location because she had been very fussy, ate 14 ounces instead of 24 ounces, spiked fevers on and off for 24 hours, and seemed to be in pain. She had no signs of new teeth. She had a very mild cough that got nasty and bronchial. Turned out to be a double ear infection (one was very bad, one was "about to become an infection")... so Callie was back on an antibiotic and her nebulizer. This poor baby! Due to the laryngomalacia, her pedi says that any cold or infection like this WILL always result in the use of the nubby because of her inflamed larynx, which will mature over time. She was unable to get her vaccines the next Tuesday, because vaccinations can cause fevers, and they wanted to monitor her fevers. Poor Baby! She is back to sleeping in the swing until the ears clear up. Pedi said that between the laryngomalacia and reflux, she is prone to them, and tubes may be in our future if she gets more. Basically, her nose is draining in to her ear sometimes, pooling and getting yucky.
May 26 Callie enjoyed eating pears! She grabbed the spoon and tried to feed herself on her own. Naturally, it went all over her face and clothes, but it was awesome to see! She has tried and disliked: squash, carrots, bananas, apple sauce, oatmeal, and organic rice cereal. I wonder where the picky eater came from? ;)
What is new in the Ortiz Family? Callie has seen many model homes lately, as we start the search for a new home to own. We are not in a rush, but that has been the newest "thing".
Callie loves to play with her toys, and she has SO many! She transfers items from hand to hand, likes the sound of banging objects around, and enjoys cuddling now with little soft toys!
Naturally, I have tons of pictures to share, but no time now to do all of the uploading etc, so I will ensure that in the coming weeks, more images pop up! Mommy is teaching summer school, so I promise to work on it AFTER I come home some days.
Until then,
Enjoy!

Callie is 6 months old!
Where is the time going?! Callie was 6 months old on May 2nd! She is just blossoming before our eyes. What a magnificent journey we have been on! Half a year later, we have seen our daughter learn to do so much! We have seen her go through some medical tribulations, and conquer them all! What a great feeling it is to look forward to her smile at the end of a long work day!
Below are some (okay, a lot of) adventures that Callie has enjoyed since her last month.
Callie loves gadgets like Daddy. Here, she is FaceTiming on Daddy's iPhone 4s (I write this, so in 20 years when we consider this an antique, we can laugh! I remember my Dad's first cinder block dinosaur cell phone!)
Callie Yoda... Auntie Roro was changing her last weekend.
Before her photo shoot at JCPenney for her 6 month pics...
Grandma Ellen and Callie with an attitude face. She was not angry, this was just a captured moment, one in which I will save and look back on when she is a teenager and say "Yup... same face."
Sneak Peeks of the 6 month photos
Callie smiled in only a few images, however SHE SAT UP ON HER OWN for her first time during this photo shoot! She did topple over some, but this was amazing to see!
Callie and Daddy- we took Grandma and Auntie Roro to Lake Eola
Patch in on the action... Grandma Ellen and Callie playing
Callie has been sleeping flat for over a week now- FINALLY! Yay! She was posed with her leg bent... silly girl.
Smile! I am 6 months old! I finally can wear my oh-so-couture headband!
Yup- teething FOREVER it seems. When will my top 2 teeth come in? I sprouted my bottom two very early....
Typical Callie smile
Again, infatuated with Daddy's phone!
We bought Callie a foam play mat, so she could crawl (or inchworm) on our floor safely. So far on day 2, she loves it!
Posing for the camera...
Last night Callie rolled to her belly again, but then did this side/belly attempt.
Today we played with more toys on the mat! She is just so amazing! It is awesome to see her interact with toys more, and understand the concept of what they do!
Also, some new things and dates....
Callie is doing some baby food on and off- we will be more diligent about it soon. Her Neocate is more important to us now to get those ounces in!
April 23- Callie put her foot in her mouth
April 25- first night flat in the play yard crib (not in the swing all night!)
April 26- first try of organic sweet potatoes (on her last blog, sorry)
April 28- sat up on her own at her photo shoot
April 30- Callie started a new daycare, and we LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it there. So worth the extra dollars. Ladybird Academy, you are wonderful! They love Callie, and one teacher fights over having her! They are communicative, and very understanding! We will see what next year holds after our summer!
May 5- Callie learned that she can lift her leg in the air and slam it down on the mattress to make a sound!
As we embark upon our next month of adventures, please stay tuned and register to get the email updates! :)
