Sorry Folks! Mommy and Callie have been very preoccupied, so I apologize in the delay of updates.
Callie has been sick, and Mommy is at the end of the school year, so I will do better soon!
On May 11, Callie sat up by herself for the first time, non tripod-style. She enjoys this independence on her floor mat! She can now sit up in the new foldable tub we have. She is LOVING bath time with the awesome bath toys!
On May 20th we confirmed that Callie DOES recognize her name. She gets excited and looks in your direction. Now, I will admit, sometimes she fails to do so if she is engaged in play (which is fine!).
May 20- we took Callie to the After Hours pediatrics location because she had been very fussy, ate 14 ounces instead of 24 ounces, spiked fevers on and off for 24 hours, and seemed to be in pain. She had no signs of new teeth. She had a very mild cough that got nasty and bronchial. Turned out to be a double ear infection (one was very bad, one was "about to become an infection")... so Callie was back on an antibiotic and her nebulizer. This poor baby! Due to the laryngomalacia, her pedi says that any cold or infection like this WILL always result in the use of the nubby because of her inflamed larynx, which will mature over time. She was unable to get her vaccines the next Tuesday, because vaccinations can cause fevers, and they wanted to monitor her fevers. Poor Baby! She is back to sleeping in the swing until the ears clear up. Pedi said that between the laryngomalacia and reflux, she is prone to them, and tubes may be in our future if she gets more. Basically, her nose is draining in to her ear sometimes, pooling and getting yucky.
May 26 Callie enjoyed eating pears! She grabbed the spoon and tried to feed herself on her own. Naturally, it went all over her face and clothes, but it was awesome to see! She has tried and disliked: squash, carrots, bananas, apple sauce, oatmeal, and organic rice cereal. I wonder where the picky eater came from? ;)
What is new in the Ortiz Family? Callie has seen many model homes lately, as we start the search for a new home to own. We are not in a rush, but that has been the newest "thing".
Callie loves to play with her toys, and she has SO many! She transfers items from hand to hand, likes the sound of banging objects around, and enjoys cuddling now with little soft toys!
Naturally, I have tons of pictures to share, but no time now to do all of the uploading etc, so I will ensure that in the coming weeks, more images pop up! Mommy is teaching summer school, so I promise to work on it AFTER I come home some days.
Until then,
Enjoy!
